Generally this is the time of the year when I relax and settle down to prepare for next year. This year - not so. It's time to color my graphic novel and the march begins now until March 1st. I've already begun coloring pages. Here's a screenshot....
This is what I'm up against.... I have to complete 230ish pages in a little over two months (70ish days). With children I can't really get anything done on weekends and there are a couple daycare holidays. With that said, I'm looking at about roughly 45-ish days of work which means I have to complete about six pages a day.
Just for perspective, a typical issue of a 27 page Marvel comic takes one month. That's a page a day.
On top of all that I have to finish finals for the second Bobby book.
I've decided that as motivation to myself I won't shave until this book is done. Here I am on day five....
I'll post a picture a day.
I've never missed a deadline. This is gonna be tough if not near impossible.
Stay tuned.
Happy Holidays
I think you may need to outsource a step!

Wow, seriously. Maybe an intern at least? I seem to recall Kazu Kibuishi ended up hiring a handful of dudes to crank out Amulet 2 on time. Don't know how he afforded it, though! Good luck, anyway! Can't wait to read it!

When in doubt, remember . . . the BOBBY book comes first.

good luck for sure! I'd offer to watch your kids, but the commute from MN would be a killer...

Good luck Dan. With 3 months of burly beard, your jacket photo for the graphic novel just might trump Shel Silverstein's... I'm sure the documentation of said beard and the promotional video potential will be invaluable as well!
