SCHOOL VISITS

WHO
Dan Santat is an award winning children's book author and illustrator who is also the creator of the Disney Channel original animated series "The Replacements" His work has appeared in video games, film, animation, and magazines and galleries all over the country.

WHAT
Dan Santat gives presentations to students from first grade through college. Students are intrigued as he shares the stories behind the stories and discusses his path to publishing.

Through an interactive presentation, Dan shares how he got started as a passionate young child who loved to draw and write to a grown up who makes picture books. Students will see artwork that Dan created when he was their age and be captivated by the process of completeing a new painting from start to finish.  Dan will also talk about the writing process and the focus on the importance of revisions and then end the presentation with a discussion about the differences and similarities of how a book transforms from an idea to a television show such as "The Replacements".

Dan inspires children to think critically while offering the themes of never giving up, practice makes perfect, and believing in yourself.

The presentations vary for different age groups and the depth of material will be adjusted for the appropriate age level. Presentations are 45 minutes to 1 hour which will include time for questions and answers.
