Vote!

ObamaI have to say, I dig Shepard Fairey as a designer, though, I'm WAAAY over his Andre the Giant stuff being everywhere and I couldn't help but share this awesome Obama poster that he made.

Now, I won't say that I'm personally endorsing anyone for this presidential campaign, but what I DO hope is that some of you folks at least educate yourself on the issues and make an educated guess as to why you're making your vote. It's been far too many years where I've heard people say "He has an honest face" or "He LOOKS like he'd be a good president"

If you find yourself to be one of these people. Don't be an IDIOT!

Go to this site.
http://www.speakout.com/VoteMatch/ and find which candidate is right for you. If you find that you match with Mike Huckabee then our friendship is over and I politely ask you to leave my site immediately and go here.

The Contender

For the longest time I've kept telling myself that I wanted to start a webcomic, and so, now I have. I'm doing a small mini web comic called "THE CONTENDER" to entertain all of you. Mind you, it's not exactly for the kiddies.  I'll be adding a new page every Monday and I'll have a link posted on the side so you read the whole story in its entirety. I hope you enjoy it.

New look of Dantat.com

Simplify, simplify, simplify. That's why I made the change. You'll also notice that the art portfolio and DJ Panda now open up in their own windows. Ah, what a little HTML hacking won't fix! Your feedback on navigation would be greatly appreciated.

Peace out.

Shirt Design

This is a little T-Shirt design I did for a small San Diego band called "The Wrong Trousers"
A friend of mine said it best, "It looks like he's speaking Wonder Bread!"

And that's a good thing.

Sketch of the day

Condoleeza Rice. Not too flattering of a sketch, but hey, it's the start of the day.

DJ PANDA FM

DjpndaYou may have noticed the new title page when entering the site. That's because I added an MP3 Player to this site for your listening pleaure while you surf the visual goodness. Friends are always asking me where I find my tunes and who I'm listening to, well, now you can listen to what I'm listening to month after month (It should be updated constantly)

Hope you like the tunes.

Rock on.

Busy year

We're busy working away here in 2008. I'm already pulling the late hours into the night juggling 4 different projects. Just recently I did this little number for the Santa Fe Reporter.
Santafe_cover No trees here harmed in the making of this piece since the sketches and the final were all completed on my Cintiq. I didn't do too much editorial work last year but hopefully that will change this year.

In the next few days you folks are gonna see more changes to the website. It's kind of my own way of doing Spring Cleaning.

Hey, what's going on down the street from me?
Ferrell
I received a call from my friend the other day and he informed me that he was striking with the WGA on set of a Will Ferrell production for a movie called, "The Goods: The Don Ready Story" which is to star Jermey Piven and Ving Rhames. It's supposed to be about a car liquidator (Piven) who works at a failing used car lot. Movie stars in MY neck of the woods?

The one humorous thing I saw was a banner on the car lot that was touting a Grand Opening with a "special" performance by Bo Bice's brother ERIC BICE!

For those of you uninformed Bo Bice was apparently the runner up in American Idol a few years back. God, I hate that show with a passion.

Lastly, Oscar noms came in this morning and this is my opportunity to
give some film recommendations....

No Country For Old Men. Awesome. Javier Bardem wins best supporting actor hands down and the Cohen Brothers win their first Best Picture Oscar.

There Will Be Blood. Awesome. Daniel Day Lewis best actor hands down. Sorry Depp.

Headphones

It wasn't my intention to go this far into this piece with so much color and detail but with the purchase of my new Cintiq I just got a little out of hand. At least you get a glimpse of my process.

Random note: I was listening to the radio and they shared this hokie tidbit of the old Batman radio show. In this segment he's trying to decode a puzzle from the Riddler.

ROBIN: What does a Moscow Citizen and a speeding train have in common?

BATMAN: Why, of course, that's so obvious... They're both Russian!

ME: Wha?..... Oooooh HAHAHA Good one Batman!..... Moscow Citizen is Russian and a speeding train moves quickly so it's rushin'..... LET'S GO DOWN THE FLAGPOLES NOW!

(NOTE: I wasn't actually IN the episode but if I was that's what I would have said)

Cint-astique!

Cintiq
I just purchased myself a Wacom 12" Cintiq for myself. It's the newest thing in drawing tablet technology. For those of you who don't know what a Cintiq is imagine a Computer monitor that you can draw on. Though this thing wasn't cheap I took on some video game freelance concept work to pay for it.

I know, I know, They just keep sucking me in!!!!

In any case, I busted this drawing out in about 5 minutes to break her in. Now my graphic novel will go much MUCH faster.
